Launched in 2019, ASU Local’s inaugural site in downtown Los Angeles was founded to bring high-quality bachelor’s degree options to all college-eligible Los Angeles students who are rooted in their community. The program aims to empower you to thrive, grow and have an impact on the places that are important to you from a personal and cultural perspective.
The ASU Local experience is designed to guide first-year and transfer students every step of the way through their bachelor’s degree journey.

The D3 Lab is one part idea lab, one part design thinking and production facility, and one part “do tank.” It is a place where students come to nurture and cultivate ideas, tackle big and small problems, and take action. Programs take place during school, after school, in classrooms, in outdoor spaces, in the community, and in the D3 Lab itself.

What role does community play in shaping an individual? What are the attributes that make my community unique? How does my community help to define who I am, what I know, and how others perceive me? Participating students played the role of “mobile journalist,” using mobile devices and digital video production as tools to tell their story.

Puentes Educativos aims to help improve the quality of learning of children in 5th and 6th grade primary municipal schools in Chile. To achieve this, the program uses four components: the use of digital educational resources, mobile internet, an educational strategy focused on the learner and training among teachers.

Structured as a six week competition, Digital City Planners encouraged young people to imagine a different city than the one in which they live. Youth studied historical city plans and identified what changes they would make in their community for the 21st century. Once they developed a plan, youth documented and promoted their ideas.
Tinkering, Making, & Innovating@The exploratory, culver city
During this workshop, educators explored how tinkering & making can be introduced into the classroom. Educators will be guided through the process of coming up with a tinkering & making activity or project to achieve learning goals. Educators participated in making stations where they learned about electronics, e-textiles, and conductive paint, tape and markers.
